Open Sky Services

Day Program

Open Sky Co-Operative runs a year-round day program that focuses heavily on therapeutic agriculture and gardening for adults aiming to develop life skills. Open Sky is equipped to facilitate assessments and goal setting for program participants, each of whom is paired with a trained mentor. Participants, staff, and volunteers are expected to arrive for morning meetings at 8:30 AM, where we plan out our work day as a team and create a list of tasks. Our day program is based in the following:

Animal Care

Open Sky is home to beautiful goats, donkeys, chickens and honeybees. It’s our job to provide them with high-quality care and TLC (tender loving care).

Organic Gardening

Our beautiful, 11-acre property in Sackville, New Brunswick hosts a large garden and greenhouse. Participants, staff and volunteers are tasked with a variety of gardening jobs, like watering, lawn maintenance, and harvesting.

Food Preparation and Sharing

Together, we preserve and prepare harvested foods and incorporate them into our communal meals and snacks. We also prepare food to sell to the community, through our CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) and shopfront.
