Open Sky welcomed over 45 volunteers from businesses in the Greater Moncton Area on June 13th for the United Way Day of Caring! While hospitality preparations were being made on the farm, the volunteers enjoyed a breakfast in Moncton, where they met Open Sky’s own Norm Hunter, who was invited to speak at this kickoff meal for over 900 members of the community participating in this annual event.

After arriving in Sackville, the volunteers began their tasks for the day – from constructing a lean-to for lumber to painting the house’s new program room.

Of course, hard work makes empty stomachs! Volunteers and staff of Open Sky made food preparations throughout the week for the volunteers, to thank them for their valuable contributions to the farm and its operations.
